Kansas City, MO. April 18, 2012. For the first time since the 1970s, Livers Bronze Co. adds LED lighting options to its full line of distinctive glass and metal handrailing systems. LED illuminated handrails are soaring in popularity among builders, architects and lighting experts thanks to their energy saving, safety and aesthetic benefits. Livers Bronze sees high demand for its Illume LED handrail lighting as an innovative alternative to traditional fluorescent, incandescent or halogen bulbs.

Compared to customary lighting, LED illuminated handrails consume dramatically less energy, reducing utility costs and carbon footprint. LEDs are UL listed (interior and exterior) and emit light for up to 50,000 hours—ten times longer than the best fluorescent bulbs and up to 30 times longer than halogen bulbs. A long life span virtually eliminates expensive bulb replacement and frequent maintenance. Producing more light per watt, LEDs outperform traditional lighting with reduced noise and heat output. Since LEDs do not contribute to heat build up, it is perfect for recessed lighting applications like handrailing.

“Livers Bronze Co. has long been known as environmental stewards. Our glass and metal handrailing manufacturing process is sustainable, using recyclable materials and green options. So many of our clients are seeking energy saving solutions and improved safety features without sacrificing aesthetics. Reintroducing Illume LED illumination to our full product line is a natural step for us. The original Livers Lighting and Bronze Co., specialized in custom light fixtures so lighting is in our roots,” states Charlie Livers, Executive Vice President.

LED rail lighting eliminates the need for auxiliary lights because LEDs can be placed exactly where they need to be for public safety. LEDs reflect brightly on any walking surface, yet gives off a subtle glow that doesn’t increase light pollution like harsher lighting does. No light spill is essential in environments like museums and theaters. Unlike fragile incandescent and fluorescent bulbs that can break when jarred or bumped, LED lights are made with solid-state components and contain no filament or toxic mercury.

Livers Bronze Co.’s variety of 14 customizable handrailing designs appeal to architects making their signature mark in museums, libraries, offices and theaters. The idea of hiding extra wiring or gluing on an adhesive LED strip is cringe worthy. Illume LED handrail lighting is fully integrated into any Livers system and recessed into the rail. Illume is especially stunning reflecting above glass handrailings.

About Livers Bronze Co.

Livers Bronze Co. dates back to 1932 when John F. Livers founded the original Livers Lighting and Bronze Co., specializing in custom lighting fixture design and manufacturing. Many of the ornate fixtures were installed in Kansas City landmark buildings during the Depression era. Most are in operation today.

Livers Bronze Co. has been headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri since opening in 1932. The company is the number one choice of renowned architects nationwide for decorative glass and metal railing systems. The company’s designs are legendary for their distinctive look, precision craftsmanship and enduring strength.

Kansas City, MO. May 11, 2011. Livers Bronze Co., a nationwide leader in architectural handrailing design, is celebrating its 65th anniversary. Family-owned Livers, now under the 4th generation’s leadership, is one of only a handful of companies in the U.S. to manufacture custom railing systems from design and engineering to installation.

Choosing to remain an in-house commercial handrailing manufacturer is remarkable in light of the number of manufacturers closing up shop in the U.S. to relocate in other countries. Equally remarkable is that Livers Bronze Co.’s commitment to stay in Kansas City is what has established the railing manufacturer as a leader in handrailing system design.

“With so many railing systems designed outside of the U.S. today, commercial handrailing designs have become homogenized. Basically, whatever railing components are available are cobbled together with parts and thrown in a box. Upon delivery, builders and their crews are stuck trying to piecemeal the handrailing sections together using barely understandable directions. The installed railing is almost never what the architect designed or even had in mind,” explains Deuce Livers, president.

Livers Bronze Co. still and always has believed in the decorative glass and architectural railing design process. The company’s variety of distinctive railing designs appeal to architects looking to make their signature mark. Livers Bronze Co.’s commercial handrailing designs are installed primarily in museums, libraries, offices and theaters as showcase, yet functional and hardwearing, decorative glass and metal handrails. The railing systems have been used worldwide and in all 50 states.

Livers remains headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri because it is a central location to both coasts. Not only is there a quality talent pool of employees to choose from, but also it is an affordable city in which to do business and wasn’t as hard hit by the latest recession as other regions were.

“Our long-standing reputation helped sustain the business. Fly-by-night companies are the first to fold. Established contractors have scrambled before when their railing supplier goes out of business. During economic lulls, contractors protect their interests by working only with well-funded manufacturers. It’s smart, given the building lifecycle can last for years,” stated Charlie Livers, executive vice-president.

The architectural handrails company survived The Great Depression and all the ups and downs since. It used this latest swing as an opportunity to beef up their marketing, invest in new equipment and train their staff to use it. New architecture design software was implemented and Livers draftsmen are headed to training for a month. Livers Bronze Co. continued to launch new metal railing designs despite the rest of the industry flat lining. As a result, not one Livers employee was laid off or let go due to downsizing or budget cuts.
